White House Comment Line: Partisan Recording Places Blame for Government Shut Down

If you call the White House Comment line at 202-456-1111, you may get a busy single the first couple of times you try; however, if you finally do get through, you can’t leave a message, but you can listen a recording that says:

Unfortunately, we can not answer your call today because Congressional Democrats are holding government funding, including funding for our troops and other national security priorities, hostage to an unrelated immigration debate. Due to this obstruction, the government is shut down. In the meantime you can leave a comment for the president at www.whitehouse.gov/contact. We look forward to taking your calls as soon as the government reopens.

So, basically, if you want to express your opinion, the government shut down prohibits you from doing so by voicemail, but doesn’t prohibit the White House from expressing a partisan political position. However, if you want to express your opinion in writing, you can do so at www.whitehouse.gov/contact/.

Let me get this straight. First, you must listen to a partisan attack before you are informed that you can’t voice your opinion during the shutdown, but you can write it.

Am I the only one who finds this ironic? The white house of the president who prefers to listen to news won’t accept spoken comment; however, the white house of the president who does not like to read, would prefer you make your comments in writing.
